Environmental Peacebuilding in Colombia Series

This third session of the "Environmental Peacebuilding in Colombia" series will discuss environmental rights and defenders. Activists at the frontline of environmental and climate defense face threats and harassment with the number of murders growing each year. Colombians are experiencing the highest number of deaths globally - with at least 64 environmental defenders murdered last year (1/3 globally). The panel will bring together Colombians working at the forefront of environmental peace and human rights:

AMADO VILLAFAÑA CHAPARRO is an Arhuaco Environmental leader and filmmaker from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. CLEMENCIA CARABALÍ is an Afro-Colombian human rights leader based in North Cauca, Colombia. She is this year's recipient of Colombia' National Human Rights Award: Defender of the Year. UBENCEL DUQUE ROJAS is a Human Rights Defender and Builder of Sustainable Peace in the Territories.

This event will be in Spanish with simultaneous interpretation in English.

This series of webinar is organized by the Environmental Peacebuilding Association (EnPAx), Duke University Center for International and Global Studies/Rethinking Diplomacy Program (DUCIGS/RDP), the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), and the Environmental Law Institute (ELI).

Registration is required.
