Accumulating knowledge on the fate, bioaccumulation, and effects of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) points to specific molecular interactions associated with the adverse impacts on human and wildlife health. Numerous papers have investigated PFAS interactions with specific proteins and their partitioning to phospholipids. What strategies can we use to organize this information and extract the signal from the noise? In this talk, Dr. Ng will discuss what we have (and haven't) been able to explain by integrating molecular insights into mechanistic toxicokinetic models, and discuss continuing challenges in addressing this diverse class of ubiquitous environmental contaminants.
