"Namely, Muscles" is an evening-length solo by 2013 Guggenheim Fellow Claire Porter, featuring visiting artist Kate Trammell. This comedic dance theatre work portrays Dr. Nickie Nom, Forensic Orthopedic Autopsy Muscular Anatomical Surgical Specialist, as she gives a reading from her new book of poems, "Namely, Muscles". Her 30 plus poems enact 68 major muscles of the body.Kate Trammell, Professor of Dance at James Madison University,is a choreographer who also teaches anatomy. She learned "Namely, Muscles" from Claire in 2013. The concert will be followed by a talkback led by anatomist Dr. Sharon Babcock of James Madison University. The talkback will include a interdisciplinary panel of Duke faculty.Also sponsored by the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation.
