Dr. Patrick Smith is Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He received a BA in psychology and music at UNC-CH. He received his PhD in clinical health psychology from Duke in 2010, where he also completed his clinical internship in neuropsychology and postdoctoral fellowship in behavioral medicine. He also obtained an MPH in biostatistics from UNC-CH in 2012. Dr. Smith has worked with the solid organ transplant programs since 2010, both evaluating pre-transplant candidates and assessing post-transplant adjustment in both inpatient and outpatient settings. His research has focused on the impact of behavioral risk factors on post-transplant clinical outcomes, including depression, cognitive impairment, and physical inactivity.
