Hydraulic Fracturing: Potential Environmental Impacts and Solutions

The Drilling, Environment, and Economics Network (DEEN) and the Environmental Alliance are hosting a panel on natural gas and the potential environmental implications of hydraulic fracturing. David Burnett, of Texas A&M University's Global Petroleum Research Institute will discuss Environmentally Friendly Drilling systems including waste water recycling. Duke's Avner Vengosh, Professor of Earth and Ocean Sciences, and Brooks Rainey Pearson, of the Nicholas Institute, will discuss potential groundwater contamination related to oil and gas drilling and potential outcomes of oil and gas regulations. Refreshments will be provided.
