Dr. Hyun Jung Kim is a graduating 4th year psychiatry resident at Duke University Medical Center. She is originally from Seoul, South Korea, where she spent most of her childhood and school years. Dr. Kim has been interested in foreign languages and cultural diversities since she was young, and went to Han-young Foreign Language High School in Seoul majoring English, Chinese, and Japanese. After receiving MD degree at Catholic University Medical School and completion of a-year-long internship at Catholic University Medical Center, Dr. Kim joined Duke University Medical Center in 2008 as a house staff pursuing her life adventures and international work experiences. During this transition period, Dr. Kim became increasingly interested in cross-cultural psychiatry, immigration psychology, and educational concerns for international medical graduates (IMGs). She has been passionate about psychotherapy and residency education, and has had the privilege of serving the Resident Co-Chair of the Psychotherapy Curriculum Committee at Duke for the 2011-2012 academic year. Dr. Kim¿s other passion is education and community outreach for youth, and she is excited to join a two-year child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship beginning July 2012 at Children¿s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School.
