Food Security in Africa: The Case for South Sudan

This multi-speaker event encompasses various topics all pertaining to food security in Africa, specifically highlighting South Sudan. The event will begin with welcome remarks made by President Richard Brodhead. The keynote address will be given by H.E. Dr. Akec Khoc, the ambassador from the Republic of South Sudan to the United States. Additional speakers include Dr. Charles Piot, speaking on various case studies in African agriculture; Dr. Mary Eubanks, discussing a new model for small holder farmers; Nyuol Tong, highlighting a refugee's vision for food security and education in South Sudan; and Dr. Ellen Davis, who will speak on capacity building, one village at a time. The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Norman Wirzba. Following the event, a reception will be held from 5-6pm. The reception is free and open to the public.
