Jonathan Bagg presents A SUMMER SERENADE: MUSIC IN A LIGHTER VEIN FROM ITALY TO ARGENTINA. Featuring guitar virtuoso Oren Fader; Elizabeth Anderson, cello; Laura Gilbert, flute; Jonathan Bagg, viola. PROGRAM: PAGANINI: "Terzetto Concertante" for viola, cello, and guitar; ROUSSEL: Trio for flute, viola, and cello, Op. 40; PIAZZOLLA: "Grand Tango" for flute, viola, and guitar; W.T. Matiegka (arr. Schubert): "Quartet in G" for flute, viola, cello, and guitar. The Ciompi Quartet Presents 2013 Summer Chamber Music Series takes place on three Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm in Kirby Horton Hall at Sarah P. Duke Gardens. Each concert will feature a member of the Ciompi Quartet joined by guest artists. Series subscriptions are on sale from April 23 until May 28. Single tickets go on sale April 30. Jonathan Bagg is a founding Director of Electric Earth Concerts in New Hamphsire, a year-round series of adventurous chamber concerts. From 2007 to 2011 he co-Directed the Monadnock Music Festival, also in New Hampshire. As a solo violist and chamber musician, his work is distinguished by his interest in bringing new and unfamiliar works to life, including many pieces written for him. Bagg directs the chamber music program at Duke University, where he is currently Director of Performance, and has served as Director of Undergraduate Studies in Music.
