    Professor David Scobey, Executive Dean of The New School for Public Engagement at The New School in New York will present the Annual Civic Engagement Distinguished Lecture on Thursday, September 26 at 4:00 p.m. following a brief introduction by Duke University President, Richard Brodhead. Scobey's lecture, entitled The Invitation: An Essay of Public Scholarship, will be held in the Sanford Building, Room 04 on the West Campus of Duke University. A public reception will follow. All events are free and open to the public.Executive Dean Scobey's visit is sponsored by the Duke Office of Civic Engagement with support from the Forum for Scholars & Publics, the Office of the Dean of Arts and Sciences, Duke Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative, Franklin Humanities Center and Office of Durham and Regional Affairs.
