In 2010, Mexico native Guadalupe Arizpe De La Vega was chosen as one of the Top 10 CNN Heroes in the world. Called a "Medical Marvel" by CNN, De La Vega was honored for creating a medical safe haven for the people of Juarez, Mexico, in the midst of the country's drug war. Although murders and violence occur there on a regular basis, De La Vega's Hospital De La Familia is respected as a violence-free zone. Join Duke Hospital President Kevin Sowers, RN, MSN, FAAN, as he talks with De La Vega about her life's work. Due to space constraints, Duke Hospital events are open to all who work at DUH, the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, DHTS, Clinical Labs, Ambulatory Services and PRMO.
