Student Documentary--Democracy Under Assault: Voting Rights in North Carolina

Free screening of "Democracy Under Assault: Voting Rights in North Carolina," a short documentary produced by Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill students in the documentary studies class Video for Social Change. A reception will begin at 6 p.m.; the screening at 6:30 p.m. will be followed by a panel discussion. The event is free and open to the public.The documentary takes a compelling look at recent laws enacted to restrict voters, especially students, minorities, and the elderly; in North Carolina alone, more than 450,000 people will be affected. The film was made in collaboration with Democracy NC, a research and advocacy organization that promotes citizen ownership of government.
