Cloud Eye Control: Half Life

Event Image
Saturday, December 01, 2012
8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Cloud Eye Control's latest work, titled Half Life, is inspired by the personal blog postings of various Japanese women who were directly affected by the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. The concert-length cinema/theater hybrid performance will intimately explore radiological catastrophe, un-seeable worlds (microscopic, psychological), and the sublime encounters of living (and dying) in an age of uncertainty.Building off of Cloud Eye Control's unique style of digital and physical stagecraft, Half Life will seamlessly blend multiple channels of video, performance, music, and animation to construct the story before the audience's eyes. Half Life will use live-feed video that is processed and blended with animation to "video foley" characters and environments. This piece is an elegy for an unsafe world. It is a dark and sensual fable that moves from station to station (home, hospital, forest, ocean) as the protagonist encounters a series of situations that bring her own fears about mortality into rich, surreal, and playful reality.
