Winter Botanizing

Event Image
Saturday, January 19, 2013
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The winter season is a beautiful time to identify plants. They are pared down to their essence and you can enjoy the bark and twig colors, the buds holding next year's growth, and the seeds remaining from the previous growing season. Spend some time out in the Gardens and Duke Forest with Ken Moore, former assistant director of the N.C. Botanical Garden, to learn the secrets of winter botany. Text provided: "Winter Tree Finder," by May Watts. This class of field sessions concludes on Jan. 26. Pre-registration required. Parking included. (919) 668-1707.
