Eid al-Adha Celebration and Artist Talk

Join the Nasher Museum for a celebration of Eid al-Adha with music, activities and an artist talk. The event begins at 5 PM with tile painting, a community mosaic, a calligraphy demonstration with Majid Roohafza, and a performance by the Azadi Ensemble. At 7 PM, calligrapher Mohamed Zakariya, whose work is included in Doris Duke's Shangri La: Architecture, Landscape, and Islamic Art, will give a talk on the history of calligraphy as well as his own career. Reception to follow.Doris Duke's Shangri La: Architecture, Landscape, and Islamic Art is organized by The Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art, which is also providing support for its presentation at the Nasher Museum and national tour. Additional support for the exhibition's presentation is provided by an anonymous donor, Graduate Liberal Studies at Duke University, the Duke Islamic Studies Center, and Stearns Financial Group.
