Alex Dehgan is an alumnus of Duke. Mr. Dehgan will be discussing the need for increasing science, technology, and innovation in international economic development. He will be sharing his own path as a social innovator inside government and in the social sector. Currently he is the senior visiting fellow, office of Provost at Duke University and co-founder at Conservation X Labs. Mr. Dehgan was the Chief Scientist & Director, Office of Science & Technology at USAID. He was the Policy Adviser and Senior Scientist, Office of the Science & Technology Adviser to the Secretary at U.S. Department of State. Mr Dehgan was the Senior Adviser, Office of the Special Adviser to the Secretary on the Gulf and SouthWest Asia at U.S. Department of State. He also held the following positions: Afghanistan Country Director at Wildlife Conservation Society. Member, Policy Planning Staff, Office of the Secretary of State at U.S. Department of State. AAAS Diplomacy Fellow, Bureau of Near East Affairs at U.S. Department of State. Special Adviser for Nonproliferation at Coalition Provisional Authority. Principal Investigator at Ranomafana Fragments Project. Law Clerk to the Chief Judge, United States Court of International Trade at U.S. Court of International Trade.
