Dying In America

A panel will discuss issues of end-of-life care based on the recent report, "Dying In America: Improving Quality and Honoring Individual Preferences at the End of Life," issued by the Institute of Medicine, a branch of the National Academy of Science. The panel will be moderated by Karla FC Holloway, the James B. Duke Professor of English, law and women's studies. Holloway spent two years as a member of the committee that issued the report. The panelists are Don Taylor, an associate professor of public policy at the Sanford School of Public Policy; Farr Curlin, M.D., of the Trent Center on Bioethics, Humanities & History of Medicine and the Rev. Luke Powery, dean of Duke Chapel. Attendees are encouraged to tweet using the hashtag #DyingInAmerica and #Duke.
