Melanocyte stem cells in development and regeneration

Event Image
Thursday, October 30, 2014
4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Dr. Stephen L. Johnson
Duke Zebrafish Community Special Seminar

Steve Johnson¿s research program seeks to understand how animals grow, maintain, and regenerate their form, and how abnormal growth control can lead to diseases such as cancer. Using the zebrafish as a genetic model system, his lab has made important contributions to our understanding of the biology of stem cells of melanocytes and neural crest, control of organ size, and tissue regeneration. He uses mutational, genomic and functional genomic analysis to understand how these different growth control systems work.
