Join Food for Thought on November 18th at White Lecture Hall for a movie screening that will challenge the way in which you think about the world and your impact on it! We will be screening the new up-and-coming food documentary " Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret", a film dedicated to analyzing the effects of the meat industry on our environment, the challenges of human population growth, and the looming realities of climate change. This film calls upon viewers to consider the ways in which we can (and must) work together to build a more sustainable future, improve food security, make personal changes in our lives, and lobby the current power players in food policy and environmental advocacy to stand up to agribusiness and push for big changes in our world. The film will begin at 7 PM, to be followed by free food and a fascinating panel discussion with Larry Moneta (VP of Duke Student Affairs), Dr. Gabriel Rosenberg (womens' study professor examining the linkages between the food system and sexuality), Dr. Matt Harding (economist and data scientist involved in issues relating to the environment and health), Dilip Barman (Food for Life Instructor), Patrick Robinette (a local grassfed beef farmer), and Hollie Mann (Professor in the Political Science Department at UNC)Come out for a wonderful night, good food, an inspiring film, and a spirited discussion!
