UPGG Tuesday Seminar Series: "Genetic quality control mechanisms in the mammalian germline"
Sponsor(s): University Program in Genetics & Genomics (UPGG)
Dr. Schimenti's laboratory studies the genetics of reproduction, cancer, and development. This lecture will focus on quality-control, or ¿checkpoint¿ mechanisms that function during germ cell development (primarily during meiosis) to minimize the production of gametes containing genetic defects. He will also address how his lab is using genome editing technology in mice to identify human polymorphisms that are causative for inherited infertilities. For More information on his research visit his website at: http://www.vet.cornell.edu/BioSci/faculty/Schimenti/
