UPGG Tuesday Seminar Series: "Shaping our Minds: Mechanisms of Mammalian"

Event Image
Tuesday, March 10, 2015
12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Ulrich Mueller, Ph.D., Scripps Research Institute

Ulrich Mueller, PhD, is a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience at Scripps Research Institute. Dr. Mueller¿s research uses mouse models, including both forward and reverse genetics, to understand genetic regulation of both the auditory system as well as the developing cerebral cortex. His lab has helped establish some fundamental mouse genetic tools, via ENU mouse genetics and generation of novel Cre mouse models. His lab has made seminal discoveries towards both auditory and neocortical development including the recent finding that fate-restricted neural progenitors may produce neurons of the developing mouse brain, challenging a long held dogma in the field (Science, 2012). Dr. Muller gives an excellent and entertaining talk, which won¿t disappoint. http://www.scripps.edu/mueller/index.html
