Technical development of high-resolution and motion-immune MRI for translational research: Even though MRI has been highly valuable for many clinical applications, current MRI protocols are still far from ideal for challenging populations (e.g., tremor-dominant Parkinson's patients, children, seriously ill or uncooperative subjects) because of two major limitations: 1) the extensive time required for high-resolution imaging; and 2) extremely high sensitivity to artifacts resulting from intra-scan motion. In this talk I will present a series of new MRI acquisition and reconstruction methods that we developed to achieve high-resolution and high-quality MRI, and applications to neuro and body imaging in challenging subject populations.
