Please join us for the last event of the 2014-2015 AAHVS Visiting Artist Series. There will be a conversation & workshop with Don Russell and Stephanie Sherman of Provisions Library: A Research Center for Art & Social Change on Wednesday, April 1 from 12:00-1:30 PM in the Smith Warehouse Bay 4 FHI Garage.Donald Russell has been leading major projects and initiatives in the integration of contemporary arts and society since 1976. His work focuses on nurturing and amplifying artists who expand both the contents and contexts for art. He currently serves on the research faculty of George Mason University¿s School of Art where he directs a research center enriching the school¿s curriculum, teaching and developing international public art projects. Stephanie Sherman is an art director, curator, writer, and organizer exploring social systems and collaborative infrastructures. Her large-scale projects often transform sites of popular consumption into platforms for co-production and public imagination. She is particularly interested in how experimental storytelling, aesthetic interfaces, and information technology are transforming contemporary culture. She is the co-founder of Elsewhere, a living museum and artist residency set in a former thrift store. She is currently a co-director of Common Field, a new national visual arts organizing network.
