Program: Beethoven: Overture to "The Creatures of Prometheus," Op. 43 and Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92; Mozart: Andante in C Major for Flute and Orchestra, K. 315 and Concerto in C Major for Flute, Harp and Orchestra, K. 299; Howard Hanson: Serenade for Flute, Harp and Strings, Op. 35. Madeline Lucas Tolliver is a chamber musician and contemporary music specialist based in Cleveland, OH. Originally from Charlotte, NC, she studied with Valerie Simosko and Joshua Smith, and earned a BM and MM from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she garnered accolades for adventurous programming, chamber ensemble leadership and exemplary orchestral playing. Mrs. Lucas Tolliver has performed with The Cleveland Orchestra Blossom Band and Festival Orchestra and The Ohio Philharmonic, and was flutist and manager of Five One Experimental Orchestra. She has performed over fifteen US and world premieres, including three written for her. She was invited to compete in the 2010 National Flute Association Young Artist Competition. She is also in demand as a free-lance musician in the Northeast Ohio area. Laura Byrne is harp instructor at Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill. She earned degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with Alice Chalifoux. She has performed with the Louisville Orchestra, NC Symphony, and many others. Harry Davidson is the music director of the Duke Symphony Orchestra.
