Please join us on Monday, October 5th as Mark Thompson presents "A Brief History of Science-driven Innovation at DuPont". The DuPont Company is well into its third century, having begun as a black gunpowder producer on the banks of the Brandywine River in Wilmington, Delaware, in 1802. DuPont moved into chemistry and dominated the field of polymers in the 20th century, bringing to the world such products as Nylon, Teflon, Lycra, and Kevlar. A shift toward the biological sciences in the latter part of the 20th century led DuPont to become one of the world's leaders in agriculture, and set the stage for the company¿s third act. Today, DuPont brings together the powers of biology, chemistry, materials science, and engineering to focus on feeding the world, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, and protecting lives.
