Join Fannie Mitchell Expert in Residence, Daniel Machemer, for lunch and Q&A. Ask questions and gain advice on different career paths from this Duke alum. Daniel Machemer, PhD hopes to share his experiences in biotech, consulting, and biomedical research with Duke students. Since graduating from Duke in 1998 with a BS in Biology, Daniel went to graduate school at UCSD to complete his PhD in pharmacology, followed by a postdoctoral position studying metabolism and inflammation. While still drawn to research, Daniel wanted to broaden his skill set and served as a consultant in biotech, pharma, and global health. He later transitioned to market analysis at Genentech where he can translate trends in biology to actual products. Currently, Daniel works at Genentech in science collaboration, building relationships with professional societies, liaising with medical experts, and promoting the scientific education of the company's employees. Daniel is looking forward to the opportunity to work with graduate students and postdocs to talk about academic and non-academic career paths. *Register by clicking More Information below.
