Tuesday, December 01, 2015
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Initiative on Poverty and Social Justice

Undergraduate and graduate students from Duke, the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and North Carolina State will present their research on the history of private action and public policy that has led to the current state of poverty in Durham and Orange counties. Students will discuss broader themes like what does poverty look like? Where does poverty come from? And what is being done to fight poverty? Students will examine these questions through the lenses of education, health, employment, the legal system, housing, municipal services and politics.

The Initiative on Poverty and Social Justice will also officially launch At the Table, a collaborative communications hub with information on activism and inequality research in the area.
