Visualization Friday Forum

I did not begin my professional life as a visualization specialist. Instead, I was shaped and molded into one by this, now obvious, realization: good visualization effectively deals with the exploration and dissemination of knowledge. The progressive discovery of this realization came through my experience in the distinct, yet intertwined, knowledge-focused worlds of research, museums, and libraries. First as a student and lab manager in a geochemistry lab, then as a museum educator, and now as a visualization librarian I have learned, and continue to learn, what visualization is firsthand. I will explore my work and training within these three realms and discuss how their distinctions and commonalities have guided my understanding and practice of effective visualization.
