Policy vs. Politics: From Policy Analysis to Political Speeches

Event Image
Monday, April 04, 2016
4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Policy and politics... what's the difference? Many are unable to explain the distinction, and in many languages the words are one and the same. This event will give students who are interested in policy and its technical aspects - as well as engaged in the political side of the policymaking process - insights into the differences and overlaps between these two terms. Through analyzing and dissecting relevant political speeches and op-eds, it will show where policy and politics intersect and shed light on why practitioners should care. Presenters include Dean Storelli, DCID's coordinator of writing and communication services, as well as a panel of master's students who have both national and international campaign experience: Elohim Monard (MIDP), Betty Tushabe (MIDP), Kevin Fulton (MPP) and Spencer White (MPP).
