NAMI at Duke 5K

Sunday, April 10, 2016
11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join us for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) at Duke's first annual 5k on Sunday, April 10, at 11AM on the East Campus Loop! With support from Duke Partnership in Service and Cardinal Racing Services, we are hosting a 5k to raise money for programming at Duke. In the past few years, education and understanding of mental illness and mental health have increased, but are unfortunately still lacking. In a high-pressure environment like Duke, the importance of mental health can often be sidelined. That's why with your support, we will make a positive change at out university and beyond. All proceeds from the 5k will go directly back into events for our community including hosting inspirational speakers, educators to inform us about the realities of mental illness, or stress-relieving events to help us all cope with Duke life. 1 in 4 college students suffer from mental illness, and it's time to change the culture around this issue through education and action.

Registration is limited, so make sure you sign up soon. The sign-up link is here: https://www.sportoften.com/event/32230/nami-at-duke-5k. We hope to see you all there on April 10!

*If you're interested in running with friends, sign up as a team! Teams of 3-5 runners are eligible to receive prizes for most money raised and fastest average times.*
