MEMS Seminar: Professor Haibo Dong

Professor Dong obtained a Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering from UCLA. In 2006, he joined the Wright State University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, where he received the Presidential Early Career Achievement award in 2010 and was promoted to tenured Associate Professor by 2011. In that year, he also received NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award and Excellence in Teaching award from Southwest Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE). In August 2012, he joined the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia as Associate Professor.
Research Interests
Current research involves Computational Fluid Dynamics, Cartesian grids methodology, biological fluid dynamics in nature, low speed aerodynamics, reduced order modeling, high-speed photogrammetry and image processing, biomimetics, flapping wing Micro Air Vehicle (MAV), direct injection and simulation of small engines, modeling and design of tDCS electrodes. Research is supported by National Science Foundation (NSF), Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) etc. More information can be found from our group website, http://www.mae.virginia.edu/fsrg/
