Explore Careers in Public Policy and Advocacy with Fannie Mitchell Expert in Residence David Heinen [Registration required]

Join us for an engaging discussion with David Heinen '96, Vice President for public policy and advocacy for the NC Center for Nonprofits. During this program, students will learn about the different types of policy careers available and the skill set it takes to work in the industry.
In this role, David advocates on issues affecting North Carolina's nonprofit sector, monitors and analyzes federal and state issues affecting 501(c)(3) nonprofits, keeps nonprofits across North Carolina informed about important legal and policy developments, provides training on nonprofit advocacy and legal compliance, and convenes coalitions of nonprofits from diverse fields.
Previously David spent seven years as an attorney with Dorn & Klamp, P.C., a Washington, D.C. law firm serving the nonprofit community, where he advised many small- to mid-sized nonprofits on a wide range of legal issues. David is a graduate of Duke University and the William and Mary School of Law.
