Scholars and Storytelling: Colbey Reid

Event Image
Wednesday, November 30, 2016
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Dr. Colbey Reid, Director of NC State University's Consumer Innovation Collaborative in the Poole College of Management, will survey new and developing forms and content in the stories that brands are using to communicate with customers. We'll discuss the uptick and narrative potential in things like design Hackathons, virtual and augmented reality, the multi-sensory internet, storytelling apps, immersive theater, scent branding, and peripheral cuing and also learn why stories shaped by women, the disabled, queer people, and people of color are driving the hottest narrative--and business--tickets on the market right now. The presentation will include a brainstorming session, predicated on the idea that the best way to know the future of anything is to build it yourself. What forms of story don't yet exist, but should?
