Neurobiology Student Seminar

Erica Rodriguez is interested in dissecting the emergent neural circuitry that is activated by noxious thermal stimuli experienced at the orofacial region. she is using anatomical, electrophysiological, optogenetic and behavioral analyses to investigate the connectivity and function of emergent neural circuits in processing emotional, affective, and autonomous responses to painful stimuli.

Kevin Bolding is a member of the Franks Lb, which uses the rodent olfactory system to study how the brain forms internal representations of the external world. We analyze small, functional neural circuits in the olfactory bulb and piriform cortex. They record and image odor-evoked responses in vivo, employ optogenetic circuit mapping in vitro, and use olfactory behavioral assays
