Event Image
Tuesday, March 28, 2017
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Noma is a young Xhosa woman who, like many young African people in post-apartheid South Africa, struggles to secure housing and a livelihood. She lives in a township on the outskirts of the City of Cape Town, renting a shack that she shares with four other people: her two sons, her cousin, and her younger brother. What she desires is to improve her life and her family's life. Her obstacles are many including having to deal with precarious employment, poverty, and caring for a child with a disability. The documentary tracks Noma's battle to build a new house in a newly established informal settlement only to confront the threat of eviction and the possibility of the loss her of home.

A light dinner will be served.
