Diverse Clinical Implementations and Educational Programs in Pharmacogenomics: Experiences of the University of Florida (UF) Health Personalized Medicine Program

Kristin Weitzel received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Florida in 1998 and completed residency training at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Weitzel is currently Associate Director of the University of Florida Health (UF Health) Personalized Medicine Program, Director of Continuing Pharmacy Education, and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research in the College of Pharmacy. She has practice and leadership experience in pharmacogenomics, primary care, drug information, medical writing and publishing, and use of novel educational approaches. Dr. Weitzel currently leads educational efforts supporting clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics in the UF Health Personalized Medicine Program and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Pharmacy Today for the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). Dr. Weitzel is a past recipient of the College of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year Award and the APhA Distinguished Achievement in Service Award. She is an APhA Fellow and a University of Florida Entrepreneurial Faculty Fellow.

The Center for Applied Genomics and Precision Medicine weekly forum is open to students, faculty, and staff across the Duke University campus and is held on Thursdays, 12pm - 1pm.
