CABC Conference: "The Needle and the Damage Done:" Neurotoxic Consequences of Drug Abuse - Dysfunction and Recovery

Join the Center on Addiction & Behavior Change as we bring together experts from the fields of drug addiction and neurotoxicology to focus on challenges posed by drug abuse due to the neurotoxic effects it causes.This neurotoxic damage can cause lifelong behavioral dysfunction and block recovery from addiction. This workshop brings together colleagues in the fields of neurotoxicolology, brain development, behavioral pharmacology and clinical treatment of drug addiction. Local experts from Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, NC Central University and Wake Forest University will discuss the persistent brain impairments caused by alcohol and cocaine intoxication. Researchers will address the latest findings of neurotoxicity caused by cannabis and MDMA. This confluence of disciplines will integrate basic research with clinical practice to provide global understanding with which we can develop more effective treatments to overcome continuing problems of drug addiction.Registration is required. Free and open to the public.
