Program: C.P.E. Bach: Symphony in B minor, Wq 182 No. 5; Anatoly Liadov: Eight Russian Folksongs, Op. 58; W.A. Mozart: Bassoon Concerto in B-flat Major, K. 191 with Rachael Elliott; Igor Stravinsky: L'Oiseau de Feu, ("Firebird") Suite. Harry Davidson is the music director of the Duke Symphony Orchestra. Rachael Elliott is versatile bassoonist and chamber musician. She is a founding member of Clogs, with whom she has produced five albums and toured throughout the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia, sharing the stage with musicians and ensembles such as Laurie Anderson, Bang on a Can, Bell Orchestre, The National, Terry Riley, Sufjan Stevens and Shara Worden. Ms. Elliott is also a member of Dark in the Song bassoon collective, Heliand Consort, Rushes Ensemble, Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble, Burlington Chamber Orchestra, and is a frequent guest with the Charlotte Symphony and Vermont Symphony Orchestras.She has premiered works by Padma Newsome, Bryce Dessner, Alex Kotch, Thomas L. Read, Beth Wiemann, Pamela Layman Quist, Paul Lansky and Ingram Marshall, among numerous others. Ms. Elliott teaches bassoon at Duke.
