The Nasher Museum, Duke's Spanish Language Program and Duke¿s Department of Romance Studies present a program of Catalonian music: Alma Coefman, flute and Miguel Charosky, guitar. This performance is a diverse program of musical selections inspired by the life and work of Miró. Join us for this this immersive experience, starting with a pre-concert slide talk in the lecture hall by Nasher Gallery guide Ruth Caccavale at 7 PM. The recital will begin at 7:30 PM.The recital features internationally renowned Argentinian musicians Alma Coefman, flute and Miguel Charosky, guitar. Charosky has studied and taught in musical conservatories in both South America and Europe, and has performed as a soloist with orchestras around the world. Coefman was previously a member of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic, and specializes in performing Latin American Music. Both share an interest in contemporary twentieth century music, and have chosen a program of pieces that are inspired by many things, ranging from the Catalonian landscape to Miró's own work. Generous funding for this program has also been provided by the Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts, the Office of the Dean of Humanities, and the Program in Latino/a Studies in the Global South, with additional support from the Office of the Dean of Academic Affairs.
