Novel: A Forum on Fiction (symposium)

On October 31st and November 1st, NOVEL: A Forum on Fiction, in conjunction with Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill graduate students, will be organizing a symposium on the contemporary novel. The FHI Garage will host three speakers -Justin Neuman (Yale University), Hector Hoyos (Stanford University), and Jane Elliott (Kings College London)- to discuss how the novel form has changed along with the very idea of modernity itself. Using a range of critical approaches and disciplinary perspectives, we will not only address the question of what the contemporary novel is, but how it helps "or even compels us" to build a different world. (More details are forthcoming.)
