4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
David M. Holtzman, MD, Andrew B. and Gretchen P. Jones Professor and Chairman of Neurology, Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine
Ruth K. Broad Foundation Seminar Series on Neurobiology and Disease

Dr. Holtzman's research seeks to understand the basic mechanisms underlying acute and chronic cell dysfunction in the central nervous system particularly as these mechanisms relate to Alzheimer's disease and injury to the developing brain. His research was instrumental in showing how dangerous amounts of a protein fragment called amyloid beta begin to accumulate in the brain many years before Alzheimer's disease symptoms arise. Dr. Holtzman is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.
