NOVEL: A Forum on Fiction Symposium on the Contemporary Novel
Sponsor(s): Franklin Humanities Institute (FHI)
On October 31st and November 1st, NOVEL: A Forum on Fiction, in conjunction with Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill graduate students, will be organizing a symposium on the contemporary novel. The FHI Garage will host three speakers¿Justin Neuman (Yale University), Hector Hoyos (Stanford University), and Jane Elliott (Kings College London)¿to discuss how the novel form has changed along with the very idea of modernity itself. Using a range of critical approaches and disciplinary perspectives, we will not only address the question of what the contemporary novel is, but how it helps¿or even compels us¿to build a different world.
