This event has been cancelled due to expected winter weather storm. For more information, contact Amber Díaz Pearson at 660-3184.Jon Favreau, director of speechwriting for President Barack Obama from 2009-2013, will give the lecture "Words Matter: Storytelling with President Obama in an Age of Sound Bites" on February 26th at 5:30 p.m. in the Sanford School's Fleishman Commons. Favreau will discuss the significance of effective words, especially in the current environment of the 24/7 news cycle and social media. According to Obama chief adviser David Axelrod, he has had his stamp on all the great speeches from 2005 to early 2013 and always sought to tell a compelling story rather than string together a collection of sound bites. This lecture is presented by the Kenan Institute for Ethics and the Humanities Writ Large Project on Democracy and Law, and co-sponsored by the Sanford School of Public Policy and the DeWitt Wallace Center for Media and Democracy. Public parking is available in the Science Drive Visitor Lot and the Bryan Center Lot and Deck.
