Media Arts + Sciences Rendezvous

In this presentation I propose seeing computer simulations as being pre-formed by a kind of perspectivation on a general level. I further argue that this 'systems perspective' can be conceived as a kind of constructive cultural medium that influences the outcome it facilitates to a certain degree. There are further levels of forming contributing to the result and calling for different competences in order to design such serious games such as computed artificial life sceneries, interactive VR environments used in psychotherapy, or surgical simulators. The goal of the Media Arts + Sciences Rendezvous is to create a community through meeting face-to-face with other people who are interested in Media Arts + Sciences, sharing ideas / methods / resources, learning about the projects we're all working on, and socializing and getting to know each other better. Our featured speaker will give a short review of their project(s) to give us a taste of what they're thinking about and engage everyone in a discussion on the topic. All those interested in Media Arts + Sciences at Duke are welcome! Drinks and light snacks are provided. Please enter through Bay 12 or Bay 9, 2nd floor.
