Event Image
Wednesday, January 28, 2015
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Amanda Flaim

This workshop is the second of a two-part sequence introducing the methods and tools of qualitative collection and analysis. In this section of the workshop, students will transform interview transcripts into analyzable data, and will learn foundational skills in qualitative data analysis using NVivo software, which is available at no cost to Duke researchers. Participants will be introduced to the most common coding strategies deployed in social science to analyze data collected through in-depth interviews, focus groups, participant observation, and/or archival analyses of text. Additionally, participants will be guided through a tutorial on how to upload and analyze documents in NVivo in order to conduct a rigorous deductive and/or inductive analysis. (those not familiar with qualitative research are strongly encouraged also to attend the first section of this workshop, which runs from 1-2 p.m. on the same day). Registration required; please click "more information" to access the registration form.
