Dr. Wilfond's presentation will frame this debateand present data from surveys of public attitudes about research onmedical practices (ROMP) that suggest the public looks at this researchvery differently from regulators and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs).Benjamin S. Wilfond, MD has published widely on a variety of ethical issues inclinical research and the practice of medicine. He currently chairs the CTSA Clinical Research Ethics Consultation Collaborative and is the immediate past president of the Association of Bioethics Program Directors. Dr. Wilfond is theformer chair of the intramural NHGRI IRB and has 25 years of experience on IRBs and data monitoring committees (DMCs). He is an elected member of the American Pediatric Society and a fellow of the Hastings Center.
