Good vs. Great Photography

Event Image
Thursday, May 28, 2015
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Chris Ogden, photographic artist and educator, Chris Ogden Photography specializing in Fine Art, Landscape & Commercial Photography

Extraordinary photos integrate art, craft and technology. Great photographers use all three to capture a moment, to begin a conversation between photograph and viewer, to tell a story. Join us for this intensive workshop to dig into the essence of photography and practice the compositional elements that separate "good" photos from "great" photos. Combining hands on field work with classroom discussion you will explore almost one hundred concepts used in photo critiques. Then we will challenge some of the typical rules to expand your creative horizons and artistic aptitude. This workshop will meet on 4 Thursdays, May 28 & June 4, 11, 18 at 7-9 p.m., and 4 Saturdays, May 30 & Jun 6, 13, 20 at 8-11 a.m. Participant limit: 8. Qualifies for Nature Photography Certificate elective course, but participants need not be in the certificate program to register. gardens.duke.edu
