Professor Cemal Kafadar (Ph.D. Mc. Gill University) has been teaching Ottoman History at Harvard since 1990. His publications include Between Two Worlds: The Construction of the Ottoman State (1995); Suleiman the Second and His Time, -edited with Halil Inalcik-(1993). In addition to his teaching and research career, Professor Kafadar is an influential public intellectual in Turkey, well known for his campaign for the preservation of Istanbul¿s historic sites. As a documentary film critic, he served in the jury of Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
