Ann Compton, former ABC News White House Correspondent

Ann Compton will present the 2015 Ewing Lecture on Ethics in Journalism. Compton will share her experiences covering the White House during seven presidencies, from Nixon to Obama. Ann Compton joined ABC News in 1973.  In 1974, just weeks after the Watergate Scandal, she became the youngest and first woman reporter assigned to cover the White House on a full-time basis. In a 40-year career reporting for all ABC News broadcasts, Compton has traveled around the globe and 50 states with presidents, vice presidents and first ladies. She is a Radio Hall of Fame and Journalism Hall of Fame inductee.Compton was part of the team awarded the prestigious Silver Baton Alfred I. duPont Award for ABC¿s coverage of September 11, 2001. She was one of the few reporters aboard Air Force One during the dramatic hours after the attack before President Bush returned to Washington. Her coverage of September 11 events was also recognized in ABC News¿ Emmy and Peabody Awards.
