Tuesday, April 14: The Post-Ebola Recovery Effort: Innovative strategies for the future of Liberia's healthcare system | Dr. James A. Sirleaf is a founding member of the HEARTT Foundation, an organization that works to educate and assist healthcare providers in developing and improving healthcare systems and infrastructure. HEARTT currently works in Liberia, one of the countries that experienced an Ebola outbreak beginning March 2014. Since the Ebola crisis began, HAERTT has worked to engage in and coordinate deployment of medical equipment and other resources to Ebola Treatment Units (ETUs), hospitals and homes. Sirleaf will speak on the history of Liberia and health care indicators.This event is open to the entire Duke and Durham community. Students interested in establishing a Duke chapter of the HEARTT Foundation are encouraged to attend. This lecture is the second of two events following-up on the Duke Africa Initiative's week of events surrounding the Ebola crisis in September. Light refreshments will be served.
