Duke New Music Ensemble [dnme] with Heimat String Quartet: Art [music]

Event Image
Sunday, October 25, 2015
3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Directed by Sid Richardson, [dnme] brings together undergraduate and graduate students in performing music written in the 20th and 21st centuries, as well as new works by Duke student composers. In addition, [dnme] also collaborates regularly with faculty and guest artists from the Duke University Department of Music and other institutions across North Carolina. This concert will feature works by Morton Feldman, Earle Brown, Erwin Schulhoff, and by Duke composers Bill Seaman, Kenneth David Stewart, Ben Daniels, and Sid Richardson. The Heimat String Quartet (Aubrey Holmes, violin; Patrick Shaughnessy, violin; Chung Han Hsiao, viola; Aaron Fried, cello) is an exciting new quartet based in Boston. Its members have performed recently at venues such as Weill Recital Hall in NYC, Jordan Hall at The New England Conservatory, and Sanders Theater at Harvard University among others. All avid chamber musicians, each player brings a wide array of experience and renewed energy to both the music and the group.
